There are so many ways to celebrate Advent - the celebration leading up to Christ's birth. One way is to celebrate the four Sundays preceding Christmas - often with a wreath and candles. But another great way (in addition to, or instead of, the Advent Sundays) is to celebrate the twenty-five days of December that end on Christmas Day - often with a small calendar containing a small window to be opened each day - celebrating the closeness of Christmas Day. This book takes the daily approach - with Scriptures and a painting for each of those twenty-five days - arranged around the chronology of Christ's birth, life, death, and resurrection. It can be used as a daily devotion during that time by individuals or as families - or enjoyed at any of time of year. Clearly many choices had to be made as to which portions of the Gospels to include - and these choices are in no way meant to lessen the importance of the other event's in Christ's life - there was just no way to include them all in a twenty-five day book. Note to parents: All of the paintings selected for the books in this series are child-friendly, but we aren't necessarily recommending all of the other paintings by these same artists! If you and your children want to go exploring more art after this - please exercise caution.
