In Ten Toes Deep
Intro
She was a girl that came from nothing but scary dreams and broken promises. Daddy was just an abuser to her so Shannon would sometimes hide when her daddy was around.
Her daddy loved alcohol and stayed drunk all the time.
Her mother was always silent.
Her mother played a big part in Shannon's life.
Shannon imitated her mother.
She sat and became quiet and withdrawn.
Shannon did not know how to interact with people her age.
She was forbidden to leave the yard to play like normal children her age.
She just watched other people and never said a thing.
Day after day it was the same thing.
Always frowning where her smile should be.
Her daddy slapped her across the face for this or that all because his day didn't go right.
What did that have to do with Shannon?
Her mama just sat there and pretended that things were not happening.
Poor little Shannon.
She held the world on her shoulders and it broke her.
She couldn't be a child.
She was always weeping.
Hiding or looking over her shoulders.
She could hear her daddy coming for her in her dreams.
She wanted to grow up.
She wanted to be free like other children but she couldn't because in her world it wasn't allowed.
No sun, not even on Sundays.
Poor Shannon had to learn to live in her own shell.
Outside of the shell was nothing
