While doomscrolling on social media one dreary night, Belinda Roddie stumbled upon a post explaining an idiom that they had never heard before: Pensando en la inmortalidad del cangrejo, or, Thinking about the immortality of the crab. As an avid daydreamer themselves, they were struck by the saying and delved deeper, learning more about our crustacean comrades than they ever thought possible. The result was a collection of poems that focused on the past, the present, and the future - blurring the lines between fictional and autobiographical - all tied to the same potentially relatable motif.
