'It is the weirdest thing. Omicron, the latest variant of Covid 19 is spreading like crazy around the world and although we have high rates of vaccinations and mask wearing as well as self-distancing have become the 'norm' - even the triple dosed are reluctant to venture out and lead a normal life!' raved Luke.
'If I didn't know better, ' remarked Sally 'it's almost as if someone is out there changing the variant deliberately, in an effort to destroy the world economy.'
'Now I'm sounding like one of those conspiracy theorists, ' she laughed.
'Don't laugh, ' said Luke, 'I was having the very same thoughts.' And so it was. Just as the world seemed to be getting on top of the Delta variant a new and much more contagious variant called Omicron had arrived in time for Christmas of 2021. This one, although not as severe as most, was far more contagious and was in fact killing more people. Governments around the world were wanting to let it run its course, however, people were frightened by it and made their own choices by staying home in droves. Economies were being wrecked and peoples lives were being turned upside down, all over again.
Life however, manages to continue normally in Namoi Downs. Luke and Sally have some serious decisions to make regarding their futures. Detective Levi Walker is back in town and it isn't long before rumour's abound and he is embroiled in controversy - with a new mystery to solve.
