Il Prodigo: The Prodigal (1851) is a musical drama composed by Daniel Francois Esprit Auber. The story revolves around the biblical parable of the prodigal son, but with a few twists. The protagonist, a young man named Eustachio, is the son of a wealthy merchant. He falls in love with the beautiful but poor Rosina and decides to leave his father's house to marry her. However, their happiness is short-lived, and Eustachio soon finds himself penniless and alone. He returns to his father, who forgives him and welcomes him back with open arms. The opera features several memorable arias and duets, including Eustachio's heartfelt plea for forgiveness and Rosina's touching lament for her lost love. The music is lively and melodic, with catchy tunes and intricate harmonies. Overall, Il Prodigo is a charming and uplifting tale of love, redemption, and the power of forgiveness. This Book Is In English And Italian. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
