In these trying times a hotpoint topic about removing the names of Confederates from military installations has boiled over. What's the fuss about? With a small camp named after George Pickett, famous for his failed charge at Gettysburg, how could that be a problem? Why not memorialize someone like that?In this play, with sections taken direction from the United States Congressional Record of the time, we see a corrupt power structure and what it did to the people unfortunate enough to live under it. The play tells the tale of the murder of 13 Union Loyalists in Kinston, North Carolina and alludes to a similar tragedy in the War With Mexico. George Pickett was in command of the Confederate forces in Kinston at the time this dubious deed was done.So the play begs the question, why memorialize someone like that?
