He was nineteen when he met her.
Ebby Ronay had left home with no real plan beyond getting away and finding something better than the life he had known. Young, strong, handsome, and still innocent in the ways that mattered, he was headed toward a future he could not yet imagine.
Then Dot Schmitt walked into his life.
She was blonde, attractive, lively, and utterly dissatisfied with the small world around her. She talked about Hollywood as though it were a promised land waiting just beyond the horizon. She wanted excitement. She wanted freedom. She wanted a life far removed from the one she had been given.
And Ebby was fascinated by her.
Before he fully understood what was happening, Dot had become the woman he could not stop thinking about.
There was another woman, too.
Cora Gost was small and brown-haired, quiet, warm-hearted, and devoted to her father and their neglected farm. She took to Ebby almost from the beginning, seeing in him something worth caring for. Her affection was simple and sincere-and Ebby found himself drawn to her kindness even while Dot's hold on him grew stronger.
But Ebby was young.
And love can make a man believe almost anything.
What begins with a chance meeting soon carries Ebby far beyond anything he imagined when he first met Dot. Her dreams become his dreams. Her problems become his problems. And little by little, the boundaries he once thought he would never cross begin to disappear.
Then comes the moment when Dot asks something of him that will change the course of his life.
Was Dot simply a woman determined to escape her circumstances?
Was she reckless?
Was she dangerous?
Or was she something else entirely?
Who was the woman Ebby loved-and what did she do to earn the name wanton?
There is only one way to find out.
I LOVED A WANTON is a provocative tale of love, ambition, temptation, and the dangerous hold one person can have over another.
