Ana (known as Emily Ana in New Mexico) marries Salim, an East Indian Muslim immigrant from the Fijian Islands. I Fought & Believed is from II Timothy in The Bible: I fought the good fight; I kept the faith; I won the race.
The plot of this science fiction, romance novel is woven through space and time back into the past and far into the future by Ana's reach for help from her Intuitive Guide. Ana's Guide possesses a key, which when turned back, brings into Ana's mind experiences from her past. Ana's Guide has no control over what will appear to Ana. Ana's Guide is there to help Ana understand the effects that her experiences had in shaping her into who she is. In these sessions with Ana's Guide, we begin to understand why Ana gave her power to Salim's demand, and that Ana gave up her physical self to save the Universe.
