What if the only thing standing between you and the life you want... is the story you keep telling yourself?
We all say I can't - but few of us ever stop to ask why. In this deeply honest and empowering memoir, C.G. Harvey shares her own journey from abuse, pain, and self-doubt to strength, resilience, and freedom. Through raw stories and hard-earned lessons, she reveals the invisible emotional walls we build - and how to finally break through them.
I CAN'T is more than a memoir; it's a guide to rewriting the narrative that holds you back. Inside, you'll find both heartfelt reflections and practical steps to help you transform fear into courage and excuses into action.
Readers will discover how to:
- Identify and challenge the limiting beliefs that keep them stuck
- Heal from past wounds and reclaim their sense of self
- Replace I can't with a confident, unstoppable I can
This book was created to be more than just a story. It's part memoir and part conversation - a guide built from real experiences and hard-earned lessons. My hope is that, as you move through these pages, you'll discover ideas, perspectives, and practical tools that you can apply to your own life. Whether you're standing at a crossroads, trying to make peace with your past, or simply searching for a deeper sense of purpose, there's something here for you.
Each chapter blends pieces of my life with insights you can use. Some lessons will gently challenge you; others will comfort you, and a few may open doors to parts of yourself you haven't explored yet. You'll find encouragement to grow, permission to let go, and reminders that change is always possible - no matter your age, history, or circumstances.
This book isn't about fixing you, because you're not broken. It's about helping you see that you already hold the strength and wisdom you need inside of you. My role is simply to walk alongside you as you uncover it. And by the time you turn the last page, I hope you'll feel a little more hopeful, a little more grounded, and a lot more confident in the story you're still writing.
At the end of some chapters, you'll see that I've included small reflections on the feelings I was experiencing at the time. I chose to share those moments because I believe that truly understanding how we feel - and why we feel it - is one of the most important steps toward breaking the patterns that keep us stuck. As you move through these pages, we'll talk more about how emotions shape our choices, our beliefs, and ultimately our ability to grow and heal.
Before you go any further, I need to warn you - this book might stir up more emotions than you expect.
You'll probably feel sad for me at times, frustrated and impatient, and most likely disappointed and angry at some of the choices I made. There will be moments that make you smile, moments that make you shake your head, and moments that make you cheer. You might even find parts of yourself tucked in between my words.
If at any point you find yourself feeling deeply, that's good. That means you're walking beside me - not as a reader, but as someone who's felt, endured, and maybe even risen, too.
