In the spring of 2025, ten years after being told I was legally blind, I was invited to be one of the artists participating in an inspirational journey- the Stations of the Cross.
This, however wasn't a traditional interpretation of this ancient theme-it included other elements designed to make the viewers think and allow God to speak through art. I was assigned to paint the Good Shepherd.
As I researched shepherds, I became aware that there were six other instances in the Gospel of John where Jesus said of Himself I AM, following after God's statement to Moses - I AM who I AM.
Jesus said:
I AM the Door
I AM the Light of the World
I AM the True Vine
I AM the Good Shepherd
I AM the Bread of Life
I AM the Way, the Truth and the Life
I AM the Resurrection and the Life
I decided to do paintings based on all seven I AM statements in the Gospel of John.
The result is the I AM Project, which includes all seven images and my thoughts while creating them.
