Solace found me when I wrote her letters: vulnerable, heartfelt, and brutally honest retellings of my experiences. Today, I wish to perform a dramatic reading of them for you. I will clamber onto a metaphorical stage, even as the little voice at the back of my mind tells me that I am not a poet.
Today, I will shut her out and open the windows.
Today, I will set myself free.
Today, I am a poet, and these are my stories.
'I Am Not a Poet' is a collection of poetry, prose, and art that takes its readers on a visual journey. It interweaves my fond memories, dark insecurities, and introspective soliloquies into three chapters:
Of Loss and Learning
Of Love and Healing
Of Letters and Musings
I hope you uncover something that speaks to you and becomes uniquely yours, this World Mental Health Day.
