The book is a collection of confessional poems about mental health, and living with mental illnesses such major depressive disorder, PTSD, as well as generalised anxiety disorder. The book is emotionally heavy, consisting of topics like self-harm, death as well as suicide and survival. It explores themes of life and love. The book is divided into four parts: Tongues of hell, Skin and bones, Dying is an art and Phoenix. The book is an ode to my favourite author and poet Sylvia Plath. The title itself contains the lines from her novel 'The bell jar'. Themes of existentialism, absurdity of life nihilism are also predominantly discussed. These poems were written during the time when I was at my lowest. The poems are a string if interrelations as well as ambiguity. They are heavy in tone, confessional and also contain graphic imagery. Reading the book will be an extensive experience of emotional intensity. Psychosomatic themes are also included.
