The author of this book, Bevin Mirielle Macutay, is a Filipina-American mixed media artist who suffers from Bipolar II and Anxiety disorder. To make light of her situation, she creates artwork to express her unfortunately ongoing pain and frustration.
This book is, essentially, an exposure of herself to the world. It contains a series of poems, written from when she started high school up until she started dating her current partner. With an archive filled with an abundance of taken photographs, sketches, and colored surfaces, the spreads of the book outline, in the artist's own beautiful and chaotic way, the turmoil she faced during the writing of each poem.
She hopes that sharing this book will bring awareness to those with mental illness, connect with those who can relate, and encourage an outlet for others to express themselves.
