This devotional is not about pretending foster care is tidy, peaceful or orderly. It's about embracing the fact that foster care is the holy chaos God invites us into. It's the kind of chaos where one minute you're building a crib with missing screws, the next you're Googling is hand-foot & mouth contagious while on hold with your caseworker, and the next you're wondering if anything you are doing is even making a difference.
For the next eight sessions, we're going to laugh (a lot), cry (possibly) and dig into God's Word together. We'll discover that He has something to say about everything from the exhaustion of doing good to the traveling sisterhood of baby supplies. We'll wrestle with how to give grace when your patience ran out two placements ago, and we'll talk honestly about what to do when the gavel falls the wrong way.
Foster parenting is both missionary work & a ministry disguised as endless grocery runs and diaper blowouts in newly installed carseats. It's a front-row seat to both the brokenness of the world and the outrageous, redemptive grace of God. Here is the good news: He's not asking you to be perfect-He's asking you to show up, suit up (with the full armor of God, and possibly a gallon of coffee), and trust Him to do what only He can do.
Grab your Bible, your sense of humor, and maybe that emergency chocolate stash you've been hiding from the kids. Let's dive into the holy chaos together. Each week, meditate on the scriptures that reveal our calling, and are a manual for how to act and react in this circus called foster parenting.
