After waking up to find the spots missing from her back, Hoity-Toity is grief-stricken at the thought of not having them in time for her birthday party. The ladybird's obsession to find her spots consumes her. She sets off on a journey over fields and valleys to find them, only to reluctantly accept the help of humans who assist her by painting on her back. When she finally arrives at her birthday party, she discovers that while losing her identity was frightful, the search to rediscover herself led her to make new friends. This book offers an age-appropriate allegory about keeping one's spirits high irrespective of the circumstance. Hoity-Toity: The Birthday Beetle is intended to be enjoyed by the entire family, as its storyline is presented in a fun way that young children can understand.
