HELD BY HIS HAND
Finding Peace, Strength, and Purpose One Day at a Time
I shouldn't be here. That is not poetic exaggeration. It is a medical fact.
In 2018, an angiogram revealed that Joseph Aniñon's left anterior descending artery-the one doctors call the Widowmaker-was completely blocked, with every other major artery narrowed to 80-90%. Every cardiologist he consulted agreed: immediate quintuple bypass surgery or a fatal heart attack within five months.
He didn't go through with it.
Not out of courage. Out of fear. He gambled with the time he had left, choosing prayer and a strict diet over the operating table. Somehow, it worked. For five years.
Then came the stroke.
Held By His Hand is the 30-day devotional born from what happened next - the surrender Joseph could no longer postpone, and the God he met in the waiting room, on the operating table, and in the long, quiet months of recovery that followed.
Each day pairs honest testimony with Scripture, reflection, and a simple Faith Step-thirty days for anyone facing a diagnosis, a fear, or a season where faith and doubt sit side by side.
You are not forgotten. You are not finished. You are held.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Joseph C. Aniñon is a Catholic devotional writer, inspirational speaker, and counselor who leads seminars and retreats for couples, singles, and youth. After surviving a near-fatal heart diagnosis and a later stroke, he returned to ministry with a renewed message: that God meets us not beyond our suffering, but within it. Held By His Hand is his debut devotional.
