This book is an invitation to awaken the 3Rs: Reveling in your Body, Revealing your Radiant Essence, and Receiving what you Desire. The 3Rs can be the foundation - and the fruit - of your burlesque solo creation and performance journey!
This book is for you, highly sensitive folks who identify as helpers - coaches, therapists, artists, teachers, healers - who desire to be embodied and seen on your own terms.
This book guides you to create and perform a burlesque solo from the inside out, amplifying your ability to be FULLY PRESENT in your body ... to FEEL all your feelings and sensations (and REVEL in them!) You will REVEAL only the physical and the extra-physical aspects of you that you DESIRE to. Once you learn to come home to your body in this way, you can begin to RECEIVE!
Never ever ever show a disembodied boob!
This book is an unusual gem. It is an amalgam of experimentation, research, teaching and practice. After mapping decades of mountainous exploration, Kellita has crafted a staircase for the reader-artist to ascend, one step at a time. With sincerity and clarity, she invites us to take the stage by standing more in ourselves - not what we think people want to see, but who we actually are. If you yearn to break free, if you want all the pretending to stop, if you long to be more fully known by yourself and others, this book offers a new way. Burlesque from the Inside Out responds to the call that so many of us have from within - the desire to be center stage in the big show, and in our own lives.
- Martha Rynberg, Director at Solo Performance Workshop
I cannot recommend this book highly enough to any and all of those of us born so far from our bodies. This book brings you home, this practice and these words and Kellita's transmission of being from the inside out shine through and bring much needed grace to the challenge of being a highly sensitive body, really being one and being seen as one. Read it. Do it. Be it. No exceptions, it's for all of us.
- Ane Axford, LMFT, CHt, Founder of Sensitive Leadership
Burlesque From The Inside Out will help performers of every kind achieve the kind of
connection to their audience that we all dream of making.
- Jo Weldon, Author of The Burlesque Handbook and Fierce: The History of Leopard Print
About the Author:
Kellita Maloof is a Performing and Teaching Artist and Conscious Burlesque Mentor, known lovingly as The Showgirl Shaman. Queen of Carnaval San Francisco 2008 and 5-time finalist at the Burlesque Hall of Fame, Kellita founded award-winning dance troupe Hot Pink Feathers in 2000. In 2010 she created Showgirl Awakening, where her experience as a dancer and choreographer directly meets her experience as a practitioner of transformative modalities, including Marin-style NLP, EFT, Systemic Constellations and Interpersonal Neurobiology. Kellita's mission is to support folks in being SEEN on their own terms and in dusting off the fountain of Self-Love that was hiding right in the center of their very own shimmy.
