The House Of Four Graves: A Novel Of Dracula's Brides

Before Jonathan Harker entered Castle Dracula, three women were already waiting.

One resisted him.

One was tempted by the power he offered.

One accepted darkness to save another.

Across the blood-soaked centuries of Transylvania, three women live separate lives shaped by duty, ambition, faith and love. Their paths should never cross. Yet each is drawn towards the same mountain, the same ancient castle-and the same unknowable master.

Within its walls, immortality is not freedom. Memory becomes a weapon. Love curdles into dependence, loyalty into captivity and hope into obsession. As the women fight to preserve the last fragments of who they once were, they begin to understand the terrible purpose for which Dracula has gathered them.

Why did Dracula need the Brides at all?

The answer lies buried within four graves.

Faithful to the shadows of Bram Stoker's original novel without attempting to explain them away, The House of Four Graves reveals the tragic human histories behind Dracula's Brides-and transforms every moment they inhabit in Dracula.

A sweeping literary Gothic novel of identity, sacrifice and the price of eternity, this is a story of three ordinary women swallowed by history, bound together by darkness and condemned to wait for an Englishman who has not yet begun his journey.

Some houses are haunted by the dead.

Castle Dracula is haunted by what remains.
