Discover the shocking, heartbreaking, and ultimately glorious story of God's relentless love for a backslidden people.
Among the Minor Prophets, the Book of Hosea stands out as one of the most intensely personal and emotionally shattering texts in all of Scripture. To vividly illustrate the spiritual adultery of the nation of Israel, God commands His prophet to do the unthinkable: marry an unfaithful woman. The resulting tragedy of Hosea and Gomer serves as a mirror, reflecting the devastating reality of a people who enjoyed the abundant blessings of heaven but entirely forgot the Giver.
In Hosea: People Who Forgot God, renowned Bible teacher and pastor S. Franklin Logsdon delivers a masterful, heart-searching exposition of this prophetic book. With immense pastoral care and theological precision, Logsdon connects the ancient sins of Ephraim and Judah directly to the spiritual drift of the modern church.
Why This Prophetic Study Belongs in Your Library:A Timely Warning: The subtitle, For Israel hath forgotten his maker, serves as a piercing diagnosis of our own generation. Learn to recognize the subtle signs of spiritual amnesia before it leads to moral collapse.
Deeply Emotional Exposition: Logsdon captures the wounded heart of God, moving beyond dry historical analysis to reveal the passionate, grieving, and jealous love of the Almighty for His own.
Clear, Practical Outlines: True to Logsdon's signature teaching style, this commentary breaks down complex prophetic chapters into highly accessible, preachable, and applicable lessons.
A Message of Unfailing Grace: While the book deals heavily with divine discipline and the bitter harvest of sin, it ultimately points to the spectacular, restorative grace of God who goes into the marketplace to buy His bride back.
The Peril of Prosperity: How physical abundance and comfort often pave the road to spiritual forgetfulness and idolatry.
The Anatomy of Backsliding: A step-by-step look at how a believer or a nation drifts away from God-and the inevitable discipline that follows.
The Tragedy of a Divided Heart: Understanding why God refuses to share His glory with the world and demands absolute loyalty.
The Triumph of Divine Love: A breathtaking look at God's final promise to heal our backsliding and love us freely.
There is no tragedy quite like the tragedy of forgetfulness. Israel took the corn, the wine, and the oil, and offered them upon the altars of Baal. Yet, in the shadow of their greatest betrayal, we find the greatest revelation of God's unyielding grace.
Whether you are a pastor preparing a sermon series on the Minor Prophets, a small group leader seeking a study on repentance, or a believer desiring to reignite your first love for Christ, Hosea: People Who Forgot God is an essential and deeply moving guide.
