The first Horseman of the Apocalypse, Pestilence, and two other Horsemen are tricked into starting the Apocalypse by the Devil. Miriam, a teenage girl from Dallas, Texas, is the only hope for the world. A strange voice hidden in bright light in her dream ordains her fate. A motley crew of friends and family stand beside her as the world begins to collapse around them. She just wants to be a normal teenager, but the weight of the world is unwillingly thrust upon her. . Enemies and friends reveal themselves, constantly keeping her wary of whom to trust. Suddenly, the President and Vice-President of the United States die leaving a newly elected Speaker of the House of Representatives as President. Pestilence grows suspicious of the new president and finds he has a dark secret, he is the Devil made flesh. The new president uses all powers at his disposal, both human and demon to find Miriam and thwart Pestilence's interference while at the same time trying to recruit the three Fates to his side. Miriam and her friends race from place to place, trying to stay alive and one step ahead of the Devil and his minions. People are dying by the thousands all around them from Pestilence's virus, which is readying the world for the second Horseman, War, who is prepared to begin his portion of bringing about the End of the World. The forces of evil realize that they have an enemy other than Heaven, they have Miriam, and she must be eliminated.
