The John Staub Awards, presented biennially by the Texas Chapter of the Institute for Classical Architecture & Art, honor architects, interior designers, landscape architects, and master artisans whose work exemplifies beauty, proportion, and enduring craftsmanship. Named for the influential Houston architect John F. Staub (1892-1981)--whose refined yet livable houses evolved the standard for gracious living in Texas and the Southwest--the awards celebrate contemporary practitioners who brilliantly advance this tradition of accomplishment in classical and regional design.
Honoring Excellence in Design: The John Staub Awards commemorates the twentieth anniversary of the Texas Chapter through a lavishly illustrated presentation of winning projects from 2011 to 2024, both in Texas and out of state. This book features distinctive residences both intimate and grand; community-defining civic, religious, educational, and commercial buildings; interiors of exceptional refinement; sublime gardens; and the extraordinary works of talented artisans whose mastery ensures the ongoing importance of meticulously crafted details. Offering a visual feast of superb creativity, Honoring Excellence in Design reveals the extraordinary talent that abounds in the Lone Star State.
Professionals in architecture, design, and the decorative arts; connoisseurs of the visual environment; and readers who simply appreciate the highest standards of artistic style and function will find much to enjoy in Honoring Excellence in Design.
