Homo Sum And Gred Of Nuremberg: A Romance Of The Fifteenth Century (1888) is a historical novel written by Georg Ebers. The story is set in the fifteenth century and follows the life of a young man named Homo Sum, who is born into a wealthy family in Nuremberg. Despite his privileged upbringing, Homo Sum is plagued by feelings of restlessness and a desire for adventure. One day, Homo Sum meets a beautiful young woman named Gred, who is also from Nuremberg. The two quickly fall in love, but their relationship is complicated by the fact that Gred is already engaged to another man. As Homo Sum and Gred navigate their feelings for each other, they are also drawn into the political and social upheaval of their time, including the rise of the Protestant Reformation and the conflict between the Holy Roman Empire and various city-states.Throughout the novel, Ebers weaves together historical events and fictionalized characters to create a vivid portrayal of life in fifteenth-century Germany. He explores themes of love, loyalty, and political ambition, while also shedding light on the cultural and religious tensions that defined this tumultuous period in European history.Overall, Homo Sum And Gred Of Nuremberg: A Romance Of The Fifteenth Century is a compelling historical novel that offers a rich and nuanced portrait of life in medieval Germany. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
