Sermons on a Messianic Jewish Approach
What if the Epistle to the Hebrews has been misunderstood for nearly two thousand years? For generations, most interpretations of Hebrews have upheld replacement theology-the idea that Christianity replaced Judaism, rendering the Torah, the Levitical priesthood, the sacrificial system, and even Israel's covenant with God obsolete. Many cite Hebrews 8:13 to justify this view: What is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.
But what if that reading gets it all wrong?
Torah Club author D. Thomas Lancaster confronts these long-held assumptions with a post-supersessionist reading of Hebrews from a Messianic Jewish perspective. Far from abolishing Judaism, the epistle affirms it-calling Jewish and Gentile disciples alike to recognize the enduring relevance of Israel's Scriptures, priesthood, and covenant.
Lancaster brings the missing historical and Jewish context back to the forefront, helping readers understand Hebrews within Judaism rather than in opposition to it. This accessible, thought-provoking collection of sermons on Hebrews opens the door to fresh theological insight-and it may just undo centuries of distortion.
- Volume One: Hebrews 1-7
- Volume Two: Hebrews 8-13
For it was not to angels that God subjected the world to come, of which we are speaking.- Hebrews 2:5
