Dr. Elias Crane came to the Welsh coast to explain seven impossible deaths. He stayed when he understood the truth - the dead were not victims. They were preparation. And he is the eighth.

Now the symbol is carving itself into his skin one line at a time, one dream at a time. When it is finished, a threshold sealed since 1802 will open - whether he consents or not.

Descending into the asylum's buried heart, Elias uncovers a chamber older than the building above it, a bloodline he never knew he carried, and a society that has waited generations for a man exactly like him. The warden has already sold them the key. A stranger with brass instruments and a book bound in something that is not leather has arrived to see the door opened on schedule.

To stop them, Elias must seal the threshold with the only thing strong enough to hold it: himself. Every memory. Every stubborn fact of who he is.
