Returning to Montana was supposed to be simple.
For Anna Cassidy, it was meant to be a pause-a chance to breathe, to write, and to reclaim the quiet life she once built for herself in the mountains. After months of upheaval, fame brushing uncomfortably close, and emotions she never expected to feel again, home felt like the safest place to land.
She was wrong.
What Anna doesn't anticipate is how deeply Xiao Chen and Wei Xian have already woven themselves into her life-or how impossible it will be to keep them at arm's length once they step into her world. Montana strips away distance, privacy, and illusion. There are no handlers here. No red carpets. No walls thick enough to hide behind.
As winter settles in, so does tension.
Old wounds resurface, unresolved grief collides with new desire, and the fragile balance Anna depends on begins to crack. Chen's quiet intensity and emotional insight pull her closer than she's ready for, while Xian's unwavering presence challenges her fiercely guarded independence. Each man offers something different-connection, protection, understanding-but neither is willing to be kept at a safe distance.
And then there's the threat.
What followed Anna home isn't just emotional baggage. Subtle signs escalate into undeniable danger, forcing hard conversations about trust, control, and what safety truly means. As security tightens and choices narrow, Anna must confront the reality that love-real love-demands vulnerability, even when it terrifies her.
Set against Montana's stark winter beauty, Book Two is an intimate, slow-burn romantic suspense that trades spectacle for depth. It explores healing after loss, the complexity of unconventional bonds, and the courage it takes to let someone stand beside you instead of in front of you.
Because sometimes the most dangerous place isn't where you came from.
It's home.
