What if the heroes of the Bible were never supposed to be placed on pedestals?
Moses was afraid. David fell into serious sin. Elijah became exhausted. Jonah ran. Peter denied Jesus. Thomas doubted. Paul was religious, educated, passionate, and wrong.
They weren't perfect people.
They were imperfect people used by a perfect God.
HEROES OF THE BIBLE: An Invitation from One Imperfect Follower to Another takes an honest, straight forward look at the human side of some of Scripture's most recognized people and the struggles we still face today.
Fear. Pride. Jealousy. Anger. Temptation. Doubt. Betrayal. Exhaustion. Bad choices. Failure. Repentance. Grace.
Different century. Same human problems.
Jose B. Cisneros doesn't write from a pedestal. He writes as another imperfect follower of Jesus who is still learning, still growing, still surrendering, and still getting back up.
This book is not permission to sin.
It is permission to stop pretending.
Come as you are doesn't mean stay as you are.
Tell the truth. Face yourself. Submit. Repent. Learn. Get back up. And keep following Jesus.
Because the Bible isn't the story of perfect people finding God.
It's the story of a perfect God dealing with imperfect people.
The heroes were never the point.
God was.
And there is only One perfect Hero.
Jesus Christ.
