Within it lies a Sophia for music, linking its physics and its metaphysics, its sound and its silence. It articulates how music operates on the soul through the analysis, commentary, and development of ancient texts. Hermetic music thus comprehends the tradition of the nature of the soul in relation to the operation that music applies to it, or the so-called secret fire of artistic inspiration. Here is posed how music should be studied to occupy its natural place, and why both the individual and the collective are transformed by it. If the human being is moved by forces linked to the wave phenomenon (cycles), their internal waves (anima/animus) are configured as if they were a musical instrument.

As can be studied, music (harmony of cycles) brings the individual closer to truth and has nothing to do with what is taught in conservatories. This volume lays the groundwork for the natural and humanistic teaching of music. In this and the following volumes, the tradition and reform of Giordano Bruno are followed, along with the neoplatonism of the School of Florence (Marsilio Ficino, Pico della Mirandola), the hermetic tradition of Robert Fludd, the erudite work of Athanasius Kircher, and the science of Johannes Kepler. All to articulate the capacity of music to awaken internal dynamics and, through it, to unite what is separated in the evergreen language of hermetic music. Musica ex lumen.
