A poem is like a wave of joy, calling to me above the turbulent sea of life, helping me to survive the tendency to be drawn under by despondency and despair. A poem is like a lifeline that enables me to be like a flower, growing wild in the woods as well as amidst the rubble at the side of a road. It is like a butterfly that flutters around the blossoms of a splendid tree that raises its branches to the sky and becomes a symbol of endurance through passing of the years; it's like day breaking out of chrysalid's case and flying upwards toward the sky. It's like waking up after a night of terror and being thankful as realize that I am still alive. Hope is to despondency as reality is to a dream; and whatever happens, I shall never let go of my dream since I am confident in the reality of hope. And so, like the l butterfly which clings to a leaf, even as it's rocked by the storm, here I'll cling, and stay as strong as I can, until I am able to fly away.
