Henry Richard, M.P.: A Biography is a book written by Charles S. Miall and published in 1889. The book is a detailed account of the life of Henry Richard, a Welsh politician who served as a Member of Parliament (MP) for Merthyr Tydfil from 1868 to 1888. The biography covers Richard's early life, his political career, and his contributions to various social and political causes. Richard was a prominent figure in the Nonconformist movement in Wales and played a significant role in the establishment of the Welsh Sunday Closing Act, which prohibited the sale of alcohol on Sundays. He was also a strong advocate for peace and disarmament and was instrumental in the formation of the International Arbitration and Peace Association. Miall's biography provides a detailed account of Richard's work as an MP and his efforts to improve the lives of working-class people in Wales. The book also explores Richard's personal life, including his marriage and family, and his religious beliefs. Overall, Henry Richard, M.P.: A Biography is a comprehensive and engaging account of the life and work of a significant figure in Welsh political and social history. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
