He preached his own emergency before he knew he was living it.
On October 1, 2023, Bishop Aldansa Ambrose stood in his pulpit, lost his place mid-sermon, and asked his congregation, Can I take my time? Then, guided back to the microphone by his wife, words poured out that weren't his own: Someone here has a heart condition... they may be having a heart attack at this moment. He was describing himself. Hours later, hewas fighting for his life.
Heart On The Table is the first-person account of what followed: a brush with death so severe that doctors told his family to say goodbye, and a grueling month-long fight to survive it. It's also the story of the people who refused to accept that verdict. A wife who declared, The devil is a liar. A sister who wouldn't take no for an answer. A family who kept a round-the-clock bedside rotation so he was never alone for a single hour.
From his childhood in Antigua to building a church and university in New Jersey, Bishop Ambrose takes readers to the single Sunday that nearly ended it all, and the astonishing recovery that had him back in his pulpit weeks later, preaching, in his sister's words, like nothing had ever happened.
Why you'll want to read this book:
● A true story you won't see coming. A sermon that unknowingly predicts a medical emergency, verified moment by moment through hospital records and family memory
● Real stakes, real detail. An unflinching, medically detailed account of survival against odds his own doctors didn't believe in
● A testimony of faith and family. Proof of what round-the-clock devotion, unshakable prayer, and refusing to give up can carry a person through
This is a story about the day everything should have ended, and didn't. Read it, and see what faith looks like when it's put to the ultimate test.
