The Hated Son is a novel written by the renowned French author, Honore De Balzac. The story revolves around a wealthy family living in Paris, the Grandlieus, who have a deep-seated hatred for their youngest son, Philippe. Philippe is the result of an affair between his mother and a man of lower social status, which has caused him to be ostracized from his family since birth. As Philippe grows older, he becomes increasingly aware of the animosity his family holds towards him and the injustice of his situation. He seeks solace in his love for a young woman named Natalie, who is also from a lower social class. However, their relationship is met with resistance from both of their families, who disapprove of their union. As the novel progresses, Philippe's desire for revenge against his family intensifies, and he begins to plot a scheme to ruin them financially. However, his plan ultimately backfires, and he is left to face the consequences of his actions. The Hated Son is a gripping tale of family dysfunction, social class, and the destructive power of hatred. Balzac's masterful storytelling and vivid descriptions of Parisian society in the 19th century make this novel a timeless classic of French literature.Above all it was important that the young recluse should not be alarmed at the thought of marriage, of which he knew nothing, or be made aware of the object of his father's wishes. This unknown poet conceived as yet only the beautiful and noble passion of Petrarch for Laura, of Dante for Beatrice. Like his mother he was all pure love and soul; the opportunity to love must be given to him, and then the event should be awaited, not compelled. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
