Produced for direct allied operational value in the run-up to D-day and beyond, this handbook covers the complex subject of the organisation of transportation by road, rail and waterways, by troops and supplies. Along with lists of ordnance, ammunition depots - noting that many had been damaged by allied air attacks - and synthetic oil plants, the book discuses food rationing in Germany and ration cards, the railway system in Germany and occupied territories, German weapons that fired allied ammunition, and supply and administration of the SS in some detail, including use of concentration camp labour. Supplemented with aerial photographs of ammunition dumps, line drawings of storage buildings and shelters, plus large maps and plans, this is a most informative and important reference for the study of the German war machine.
