Half Three Score Years And Ten is a memoir written by Annie Gaskin Stewart Gorgas in 1918. The book recounts Gorgas' life and experiences as a Southern woman during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Gorgas was born in Mobile, Alabama in 1846 and grew up during the Civil War. She later married General William Crawford Gorgas, who was known for his work in eradicating yellow fever in Panama. The book covers a wide range of topics, including Gorgas' childhood, her experiences during the Civil War, her travels throughout Europe and the United States, and her life as the wife of a prominent military figure. She also discusses her involvement in various social and political causes, including women's suffrage and the temperance movement. Throughout the book, Gorgas provides vivid descriptions of the people and places she encounters, as well as her own thoughts and feelings about the events of her life. Her writing is characterized by a strong sense of Southern identity and a deep appreciation for family, tradition, and community. Overall, Half Three Score Years And Ten offers a fascinating glimpse into the life of a Southern woman during a time of great change and upheaval in American history. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
