Darkly disturbing and utterly irreverent, Halcyon: Raised by God Never Told to Lay Down by Michael Holder is a twisted tale of gothic chaos. With macabre humor that borders on black, this author is a fascinating new voice in the horror genre. The narrative begins by following Father Thaddeus Halcyon, a specialist that the Vatican calls upon to investigate strange occult occurrences, as he makes his way to Sacramento, California. In a rush of actions, it becomes clear that Father Halcyon is not the man he portrays to be. He is none other than Lazarus of Bethany, whom Jesus raised from the dead over two thousand years ago. Besides his gift of longevity, Father Halcyon is endowed with special abilities that come in handy as good is pitted against evil. With the fate of the entire world in his hands, he enlists the help of rookie Deputy Hunter Musgrave to stop a merciless reign of terror being executed by Raith Drenor, a third generation Satanist consumed by a desire for power.
