Growing Up Lawton - Ridgewood The Greatest Community As I Know It 1949- the2000s is a book of hometown love. Written by one of the longtime residents, the story is a downhome, warm, feel-good narration of the 'good old days when the family was more than the folks inside your house. It's about neighbors helping each other grow and learn the intricacies of life, It's true, it does take a village to raise a child.
At first glance, we see just two ladies sitting on the porch. What we don't see is that they lived across the street from each other for decades. They were two of the greatest women on this side of heaven. Any day, you could go to either of their homes and be welcomed with open arms of acceptance and good food. Any day, but always on Sunday, both their homes were open to feed whoever stopped by. A trail of cars followed them as they, most of the time, walked home from Ridgewood Church.
