Bruce and Gordon are two middle school friends enjoying their last day of 8th grade in Grafton, Massachusetts and preparing for the summer before high school. When Gordon doesn't make it home that night, Bruce retreats into a homebody until the fall when he starts high school without his friend. He does his best to keep Gordon's memory alive, but his classmates have moved on. Eventually, Bruce does too, until twenty-five year later when Gordon's memory is resurrected after another boy has gone missing. Bruce is overwhelmed. This time, though, it is fear, not grief that drives him.
