In 2000, to everyone's surprise, the opposition leader Laurent Gbagbo won the elections in Côte d'Ivoire, the showcase of Françafrique since the days of Houphouët-Boigny.This historic democratic victory was not accepted by the former colonial power. On April 11, 2011, at the cost of military intervention, Nicolas Sarkozy installed Alassane Ouattara in power and orchestrated, with Luis Moreno-Ocampo, the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), the transfer of Laurent Gbagbo to The Hague.
After seven years of detention and three years of trial, during which the manipulations and errors of international justice came to light, the time has come for the truth to be told. Based on confidential documents, in particular between the French authorities and the ICC, the Franco-Ivorian author retraces the true story of this merciless fight for the sovereignty of Côte d'Ivoire.
