Guy Gilles born Guy Chiche (August 25, 1938 - February 3, 1996) was a French film director. He directed his first short film, Soleil teint in 1958. He changed his surname to Gilles based on the name of his mother (Gilette) to create a pseudonym. After studying at the Beaux-Arts, he moved to Paris, where he worked as an assistant to Fran ois Reichenbach in 1964. His first feature film, L'Amour la mer ( 1962), starred Juliette Greco, Romy Schneider and Jean-Pierre L aud. Patrick Jouan featured in many of his films. He also worked for television with productions such as Dim, Dam, Dom and Pour le plaisir.
