Guy Fawkes: A Historical Romance is a novel by British author Harrison Ainsworth, first published in 1841. The book is a fictional retelling of the infamous Gunpowder Plot of 1605, in which a group of English Catholics attempted to blow up the Houses of Parliament and assassinate King James I. The story follows the life of Guy Fawkes, one of the key conspirators in the plot, from his childhood in Yorkshire to his involvement in the conspiracy and eventual capture and execution. Along the way, the novel also explores themes of religious persecution, political intrigue, and forbidden love.
