However, something is changing this Yule season. The Yule Lads, traditionally known for their mischief, are beginning to question their roles. Led by their oldest brother, Stekkjastaur, they embark on a secret mission to help children rather than trick them. One by one, each Yule Lad undertakes a journey of transformation, teaching Icelandic children valuable lessons about kindness, sharing, honesty, and compassion.
Stekkjastaur, who once harassed sheep, helps a young boy named Bjarni learn compassion for a lost lamb. Giljagaur, known for stealing milk, teaches Inga, a girl frustrated with her selfish siblings, the power of generosity. Stúfur, the smallest Yule Lad, encourages a lazy boy, Kári, to take responsibility and help with chores. Meanwhile, other Yule Lads, like Askasleikir and Skyrgámur, spread lessons of fairness and honesty.
As the Yule Lads succeed in guiding children off the Naughty List, Grýla begins to suspect something is amiss. Her once lengthy list of misbehaving children is shrinking, and she sets out to investigate. Along the way, Grýla confronts her own harsh methods and the changing spirit of Yule. Despite her initial resistance, she encounters the Hidden Folk and her own sons, who begin to shift her perspective. In a dramatic climax, the Yule Lads unite to complete their mission, even in the face of Grýla's growing suspicion.
