Its 1970s.... a child...then you start going to school...its cold...its hot...its cany...its tough.. ..but you shoulder on....kept by the promise of....weka bidii kijana, someni vijana, .....bidii...mwisho wa kusoma, utapata kazi mzuri.then its now 1980s.... a teenager....you are reminded....weka bidii kijana, someni vijana, .....bidii...mwisho wa kusoma, utapata kazi mzuri sana......then you heed this call, and read...and read...and read......then graduate......go to kilimo house a number of times, no opening..slowly by slowly, comrades can no longer stay in the hostels...nor with the relatives as they are now expected to be working...to be independent..and pick the relay stick from the next person and ran with it...towards a collective family / community / clan score....but its no longe the case......just sold hope. Resort to Untrained graduate under TSC...and do the best..and score well with students as a maths teacher. .things happen in Kenya......economic meltdown happens.....the relevant departments fail to employ its own citizens...or let's say, some....for name, home and/ or lack of godfather. Go even for a graduate degree....nothing doing. Slowly you get tired and seek alternatives-maybe Botswana, maybe elsewhere.....maybe there could be hope elsewhere...you absorb the idea and begin to make it real....and here comes the story of the long trek. Read and enjoy....
