Over 200 people boarded the ship Siwani 111 that night, each carrying dreams, plans, and hopes for a better tomorrow.
None of us knew we were sailing toward disaster.
Fourteen hours into the open sea, the ship began to tilt. Panic spread. Prayers filled the air. Fear took over. What started as a normal journey from Calabar, Nigeria to Douala, Cameroon quickly turned into a nightmare no one was prepared for.
As the vessel slowly sank into the dark ocean, I made a decision that would save my life. I grabbed a single life buoy-along with a few others-and held on as the sea swallowed everything around us.
For 22 endless hours, we drifted in the vast, unforgiving ocean. The cold. The hunger. The fear. One by one, people disappeared. Hope faded with every passing moment.
Out of more than 200 souls on board, only six survived.
I am one of them.
This is not just a story.
It is a testimony of courage, faith, and the will to live when death feels certain
