John Amos Comenius (1592 - 1607) was one of the first advocates of universal education and is widely considered to be the father of modern education. He compiled his ideas about this concept into his book Didactica Magna, which is translated here from the original Latin. First published in 1896, this close translation will appeal to those with an interest in the history of education and its ancient roots, and it is not to be missed by collectors of historic literature. Many vintage books such as this are increasingly scarce and expensive. It is with this in mind that we are republishing this volume now in an affordable, high-quality, modern edition complete biographical and historical introductions.
