The Green Pastures is a fable written by Marc Connelly. The book is set in the southern United States and tells the story of a group of African American characters who live in a rural community. The central character is De Lawd, who is portrayed as a god-like figure. De Lawd is concerned about the behavior of the people in his community and decides to intervene to try to improve their lives. He does this by creating a vision of a perfect world, which he calls the green pastures. This vision inspires the people to strive for a better life and to work together to achieve their goals. The book is written in a poetic style and uses a variety of literary techniques, such as metaphor and symbolism, to convey its message. The Green Pastures is a thought-provoking and inspiring book that encourages the reader to think about the power of faith and the importance of community.1929. American dramatist Connelly is best known for his Pulitzer Prize- winning play The Green Pastures, a fantasy of biblical history presented in terms of the religious life of Southern blacks; it was based on Roark Bradford's book Ol' Man Adam an' His Chillun. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
