The Green Knight: A Vision is a novel written by Richard Garnett and illustrated by Margaret Porter, first published in 1911. The book tells the story of a young man named John who, after falling asleep in a church, has a vivid dream in which he meets the Green Knight, a mysterious figure from Arthurian legend. The Green Knight challenges John to a game, in which he must strike him with an axe, but on the condition that the Green Knight will be allowed to return the blow in a year's time. John accepts the challenge, and the rest of the book follows his journey as he tries to come to terms with what he has done and what he must face in the future. The novel explores themes of bravery, redemption, and the power of dreams, and is considered a classic of fantasy literature. Margaret Porter's illustrations add to the dreamlike quality of the story, making it a beautiful and haunting read. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
