What if the Christian life was never supposed to be this exhausting?
You believe in grace. You know Jesus paid it all. You know salvation is a gift.
And yet, somehow, following Christ can slowly become another performance.
Pray more.
Try harder.
Do better.
Before long, grace becomes something we believe theologically while living as though God's acceptance still depends on us.
The Grace Reset is an invitation to come back to the simplicity and power of the gospel.
Mark David DeVilbiss confronts the performance-based Christianity that leaves believers measuring their relationship with God by their behavior, spiritual disciplines, failures, and successes. He points instead to the finished work of Christ-and to an identity that was given, not earned.
This book will help you:
- Recognize the difference between grace and religious performance
- Break free from the exhausting cycle of trying to earn God's approval
- Understand what the Cross actually accomplished for you
- Discover your identity in Christ apart from your behavior
- Replace guilt and condemnation with confidence in Christ's finished work
- Understand obedience as the fruit of relationship rather than the price of acceptance
- Rediscover the freedom and joy that grace was always meant to produce
Grace doesn't mean that behavior doesn't matter.
It means behavior is no longer the basis of your relationship with God.
You don't obey to become accepted.
You obey because you already are.
You don't work toward an identity.
You live from the identity Christ has already given you.
And you don't have to spend the rest of your Christian life wondering whether you've finally done enough.
Jesus already did.
If Christianity has begun to feel more like a burden than good news, maybe you don't need another program, another promise, or another attempt to try harder.
Maybe you just need a reset.
A Grace Reset.
