The Gospel of Justification by the Righteousness of God is a book written by the renowned Puritan minister, Cotton Mather. The book delves into the concept of justification, which is central to Christian theology. Mather argues that justification is not achieved through good works or personal merit, but rather through faith in Jesus Christ and his righteousness. He explores various biblical texts and examines the teachings of the early Church Fathers to support his argument. Mather also addresses common objections to the doctrine of justification by faith alone, such as the idea that it leads to antinomianism (the belief that Christians are not bound by moral law). The Gospel of Justification by the Righteousness of God is a significant work in the history of Protestant theology and remains relevant to contemporary discussions about salvation and faith.1700. This work contains a brief discourse on the gospel of justification by the righteousness of God as it is held and preached in the churches of New England by Cotton Mather and asserted with the attestations of several reverend and eminent persons, now most considerable in those churches. Written in Old English. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
