When another hunter intentionally kills his hunting dog during a pheasant hunt in North Dakota, P.J. Sanders's grief is immense. It takes eighteen months before he and his wife, Cindy, decide to open their hearts and their home to another dog.
This time, though, Sanders decides to go for a heartier breed-something able to hunt with him throughout the frigid Wisconsin winters. He finds a breeder of German Wirehaired Pointers and, a few months later, a young puppy named Josie joins the family.
As Sanders goes through the process of transforming Josie into a hunting dog, he is struck again and again by her loyalty, unconditional love, and simple desire to be in his presence: the same characteristics that can be applied to God's love for humans.
The Gospel According to Josie contains twenty-three standalone stories drawn from Sanders's hunting adventures with his dog. Ranging from comical to deeply touching, these tales contain important life lessons about faith, friendship, and God's love that Sanders learned while afield and afloat with his faithful companion.
Deeply moving and engaging for readers of all ages, this collection will delight anyone who has ever loved-or been loved by-a four-legged friend.
