These are very engaging, entertaining and cleverly informative poems! The humor is lovely, the science is intriguing, and the sense of futility about our controlling the insect world is spot on! The children's artwork was absolutely enchanting. Jeffrey A. Lockwood - professor, entomologist and author. This nonfiction book introduces the reader to some peculiar traits of creepy crawlies that are essential to the food chain as decomposers, soil aerators, food sources and more. Text boxes stuffed with fascinating facts accompany each rhyme and all the illustrations were created by a child aged between 3 and 15. Biological classifications are included and the Shona and Ndebele names for these goggas have also been added as Zimbabwe was where the author first discovered bugs. Entomologists and wildlife experts have verified the facts and the engaging text will help children aged 8+ learn about the importance of insects.
