Goethe's Letters to Zelter: With Extracts from Those of Zelter to Goethe (1892) is a collection of letters exchanged between two great German artists, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Carl Friedrich Zelter. The book is a fascinating insight into the friendship and artistic collaboration between the two men, who shared a love of music and poetry. The letters cover a wide range of topics, from discussions of music and literature to personal matters, and offer a glimpse into the daily lives of these two celebrated figures. They also reveal the depth of their friendship and the mutual respect they had for each other's work. The book is edited by L. Dora Schmitz, who has included helpful notes and commentary to provide context and background information for readers. The letters are presented in their original German, with English translations provided alongside.Overall, Goethe's Letters to Zelter is a must-read for anyone interested in the history of German literature and music, as well as for those who want to gain a deeper understanding of the personal lives and creative processes of two of the greatest artists of their time. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
